Book Binds and a Dirty Mind

First of all, thank you for visiting my page!

I’ve been extremely blessed to have the support that I do through this journey of publishing my stories. My mom and my best friend Lauren were the ones who really pushed me to take the leap because I started writing the book “If Not For Him” in the year 2014. It’s been my baby, but I neglected it and let it sit in hard drive purgatory for many reasons.

One, I was a little scared to have other people read and criticize it because it was a story that I poured my heart and soul into during a very difficult time in my life. The story meant more to me than just the words on the page, and for that reason, I wasn’t sure I was ready to handle the possibility of others tearing it down.

Because the story was birthed during a time when I myself was not a whole person emotionally, it was hard for me to go back to and continue it. It’d been so long since I allowed myself to “bleed on paper” so to speak, and I just didn’t know if I was capable of doing the story justice any longer.

Realizing that the main reason I was holding myself back was fear, I decided that there really wasn’t anything to fear. So what if someone doesn’t like it? This book didn’t start with the intention of gaining anyone’s approval. That doesn’t mean that I don’t enjoy feedback from it, because I most certainly do, it’s just that I wasn’t going to let that feedback break me. I just knew I would have to get back up and keep trying.

I have always loved to read, but romance novels were the catalyst that started it all for me. I was addicted to them. Couldn’t get enough of them. I still can’t get enough of them, and gobble them up any chance I get. So, for me to write one was a way for me to control and create a story exactly the way I wanted. And that reading addiction soon turned into a writing addiction.

So for anyone reading this, and for those who have read “If Not For Him,” just know that you aren’t just reading a story, you are reading what was my escape from reality at the time.

Book 2 will be out soon, and as my strength as a writer has developed over time, through a clear and more confident mind, I think you will thoroughly enjoy it!

Be sure to follow me for updates!
